The Unified Protocol Institute (UPI) offers a range of training options to meet the needs of mental health professionals, researchers, and students worldwide. The goal of training at the UPI is to disseminate cutting-edge advances in psychological treatment as a means to improve patient care. We offer different types of training based on the needs of the providers, healthcare systems, and private organizations.

Types of Training

Level I: Workshop Attendance

Most clinicians benefit from attending Level I training in order to (1) become more familiar with the UP, and (2) determine whether they would like to pursue Level II or Level III training. Level I training entails attending one of our introductory workshops, which we offer several times a year.
We also offer introductory workshops for groups. This process would start with a call from one of our trainers to assess the needs of your organization. Once goals had been clarified, one of our expert trainers would conduct a remote webinar with your group.

The cost for a one-day workshop starts at $4,000.

We can also create specialized workshops to meet the needs of your institution and team. Contact us at hello@unifiedprotocol.com to tell us what you need and discuss options!

Level II: Therapist Training

Level II training entails completing supervision in administration of the UP. This involves remote consultation on a course of treatment with the UP, which usually takes 12-16 weeks.

The cost for this program is $3,750 and can include up to three providers.

Level III: Becoming a UP Trainer

The highest level of training we offer allows clinicians to become UP trainers themselves, using a "train the trainer" model. This is the most rigorous training option. Like Level II training, this program involves consultation on a course of treatment with the UP. In addition, the trainee would record each UP session, which one of our expert trainers would then listen to and provide feedback on. The person who completes Level III training can then supervise and train others within their institution.

This training is done one-on-one and the cost is $8,000.

Implementation Support

Given the broad applicability of the Unified Protocol, we are often contacted by hospitals/large treatment clinics that wish to utilize the UP for a program-wide roll out of empirically supported treatment. Our program implementation package consists of preliminary consultation to assess the specific needs of your organization. After that meeting, we will collaborate with your organization to determine how to best train staff to deliver the UP. We develop individualized training proposals for implementation efforts.

Hourly Consultation

We also provide hourly consultations on implementation of the UP for $250/hr. This option is best for clinicians who are already familiar and comfortable with the UP but would like feedback on administering the protocol. Additionally, this option is applicable for anyone hoping to adapt the UP for their particular setting.

We receive many requests to help adapt the UP to group settings, and hourly consultation provides an opportunity for you to receive feedback and insight from our expert trainers.

Testimonials

The material on the Unified Protocol was fascinating and very well presented. Attendees were extremely pleased with the presentation and have already asked about having you folks back.
— John O., PhD., Maine
I attended a workshop on the UP at ABCT and it was very interesting, clear, well organized and informative, with a good mix of didactic and experiential activities. The UP could transform the way evidence-based treatment is provided. Everyone should learn it.
